For your families sake I recommend keeping your political and personal sites unattached. Your political views are (obviously) very strong. You don't want someone lashing out at your family over that.
A lot of us have two sites. Just use a different e-mail when you log into blogger and no one following a political rant from one blog can find pictures of your kids on another.
